Exteriors Have Feelings Too - Giving Your Home A Facelift
I worked as part of the client's team on this late 1960’s transformation in Petersfield, Hampshire (see Petersfield II for interior images). Previously a bland red brick house located in a lovely spot with secluded garden, this family home underwent a 7-8 month build program, seeing the addition of a 2-storey side extension and single storey rear extension across the full width of their home.
As well as providing interior design services, I helped the clients with the external appearance, providing visuals to aid their decisions on the colour of the render, weatherboarding etc.
The external remodelling involved new aluminium enamel coated windows, bi-fold doors and roof lights to maximise the natural daylight internally. The brickwork was rendered and the addition of composite weatherboarding helps to visually break-up the elevations. The previous red clay tiled roof was replaced with slate, whilst the rear extension has a standing seam metal roof applied. The addition of a large decked area using composite materials adds the perfect spot enjoy the garden and entertain friends.
The end result has not only added value to their home but also enhanced its kerb appeal. They now have a family home which suits their needs and they can enjoy for many years to come.
